Thread Sealant

Anaerobic sealants – Permanently plastic sealants

Liquid thread sealants must seal the gaps between threads over the long term. They prevent liquid or gaseous substances from escaping through the respective thread. Since pipes can be exposed to a variety of external influences, such as vibrations, chemical influences, pressure or temperature fluctuations, it is important to determine the appropriate thread sealant.

The materials that make up the threads to be sealed also play a major role. A plastic thread requires a different sealing material than a metal thread, while combined workpieces require a differentiated sealant.

DREI BOND offers an extensive range of thread sealants for almost every requirement. DREI BOND sealants offer an immediate sealing effect against low pressures. The strength in the fully cured state can be varied from hand-tight to high-strength, so that a strength can be achieved that exceeds the bursting pressure.

Depending on the application, the following are suitable:

F.A.Q.

When are thread sealants used?

Thread sealants are characterized by a wide range of possible uses, which is why manufacturers and craftsmen use them in numerous industries. Car manufacturers use these sealants as do manufacturers of fluid technology. Thread sealants are also widespread in the paper industry, in mechanical engineering, in waste management and in power generation. They are suitable for all fields of application in which threads have to withstand extraordinary loads such as high pressure.

What are the advantages of a thread sealant?

Thread sealants reliably seal two tight-fitting parts as soon as the anaerobic adhesive has cured. The gaps are filled 100%. They prevent leaks and are ideal for all connections that are exposed to vibrations, fluctuating temperatures or changing pressure conditions. As a user, you benefit from another advantage: These sealants protect your threads from corrosion.

When does an anaerobic thread sealant cure?

The time it takes to cure depends firstly on the anaerobic thread sealant used. The manufacturers provide their products with appropriate information. Secondly, other factors play a role: The material of the thread, the temperature and the gap size also influence the period. When it comes to material, for example, there are differences between metallic and non-metallic materials.
