Surface Pre-Treatments

Cleaner, Activator, Primer
A clean and grease-free surface is a basic requirement to ensure a stable adhesive bond. This can be achieved with the use of DREI BOND cleaners. Depending on the stubbornness and type of contamination, DREI BOND offers a suitable cleaner.
For materials that are difficult to bond and depending on the adhesive, various options are available in the form of activators and primers. These are applied to the component to be joined before the adhesive and then enable a stable adhesive connection to be established.
Depending on the application, cleaners, activators and primers are suitable here. (Link to cleaners, activators and primers)
F.A.Q.
What should be considered when using the products for surface pre-treatment & surface preparation?
The products used must be suitable for both the materials to be bonded and the adhesive and, in the case of cleaner, must be adapted to the existing soiling. If necessary, flash-off times must be considered before applying the adhesive. In addition, the evaporation of the solvents can cause the substrate to cool down considerably, which can lead to condensation. This condensation must also be completely removed before bonding to the substrate.
Why are products for surface pre-treatment & surface preparation so essential?
Good adhesion between the surfaces to be joined and the adhesive is a basic prerequisite for the strength and lasting stability of bonded joints. Thorough preparation and pre-treatment of the bonding surfaces is therefore an essential basis for optimum bonding results.
For which materials can you use surface pre-treatment & surface preparation?
DREI BOND cleaners are suitable for both metallic and non-metallic surfaces. Primers are used in particular for materials that are difficult to bond, such as PP and PE. Activators are particularly advantageous for anaerobic adhesives in combination with passive surfaces.
Where are surface pre-treatment & surface preparation products used?
Cleaners help to create clean, grease-free and dry surfaces and thus enable the adhesive to bond to the surface. Primers, which serve as a kind of primer between the adhesive and the component material, have various functions. For example, they can increase the effective surface area, have a protective function for the component material and act as an adapter between the substrate and the adhesive. Activators are applied to passive surfaces to accelerate the curing of the subsequently applied adhesive.
What are the advantages of DREI BOND's surface pre-treatment & surface preparation products?
Cleaners, primers and activators can create optimum conditions for good adhesion between components and adhesives. They ensure a permanently stable bond and, in the case of activators, significantly reduce the time required for complete curing. The appropriate product must always be matched to the individual application. In particular, the substrates, the adhesive and any impurities present must be considered.
